UK Creative Industry Leader, Campaigner & Writer

With 20+ years’ executive board-level experience in the UK creative industries, Mel currently serves as a strategic board advisor and portfolio Non-Exec Director. This move began in 2019 when she was made a Trustee of Doteveryone, the responsible technology think tank founded by Martha Lane Fox. Prior to this, Mel was Group CEO of Sunshine, the London & Los Angeles-based brand and entertainment company, and the Managing Director of Bartle Bogle Hegarty. In nineteen years at BBH, she was also the creative agency’s first Chief Digital Officer and co-founder of BBH Labs, their marketing innovation arm.

With a background in advertising, digital marketing and entertainment, Mel’s expertise lies in fostering strong, equitable cultures where difference and change are sources of creativity and growth. As Campaigning Chair and member of WACL’s exec team (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership) 2021-22, she is particularly committed to campaigning for gender equality for all.

Mel is also enjoying a second life as a writer. Having written a children’s book in aid of Help Refugees, her new novel is set in 1970s Pakistan. She is a proud Londoner, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
