Recognition for Headlining Mental Health Charities

Posted 11 July 2022

Media Trust’s Headlining Mental Health team was out in force last month at the This Can Happen Conference and Awards.

With two charities from the Headlining Mental Health programme and numerous Media Trust partners shortlisted, the event was truly a celebration of mental health and learning.

Talk for Health, listed under their client C Space, were nominated for their novel use of therapeutic listening groups in the workplace, allowing people to connect with colleagues knowing they would receive non-judgemental and open responses.

Supporting a charity through our choice of employee assistance programme was a huge bonus, but it was the proven efficacy of Talk for Health’s approach that interested us. Relationships are the glue between a workforce – it makes sense to help people support one another.

Chasing the Stigma was nominated for the Hub of Hope, a unique signposting directory of services offering mental health support & help nationwide across the UK, which is recommended by the NHS, Mental Health First Aid UK and many other mental health leaders.

Founded by Jake Mills, in the wake of his own suicide attempt, the directory has guided more than 300,000 people to the support they need since 2017.

Being nominated at the This Can Happen Awards 2022 for our platform Hub of Hope, just shows how far we have come in such a short amount of time, and how needed this resource is - not only mental health service providers but for the general public wanting more options to seek support and help for their own mental health.

The charities faced stiff competition from leading agencies and brands including ITV, Santander, and amazing Media Trust industry partners Ogilvy and Havas – who recently led a fantastic day of volunteering on the Headlining Mental Health programme.

Whilst neither charity ultimately won the coveted prize, both held their own against international media industry leaders and celebrated their chance to speak out about mental health and be recognised for their excellence.

Media Trust would like to congratulate both amazing charities learning with the programme, and thank This Can Happen for providing complimentary tickets to Headlining Mental Health so that the team could join charities at the event and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in workplace mental health support.
