Su-Mei Thompson: Support the next generation of media industry trailblazers

Posted 15 June 2023

Media Trust CEO, Su-Mei Thompson, discusses our recent Creativity Works graduation, how we have been helping young and underrepresented talent to break into the media and creative industries - and how you can get support them too!

For nearly 30 years, Media Trust has been providing opportunities for young and underrepresented talent from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop job-ready skills for the media, creative and screen industries. Earlier this month, we celebrated the graduation of the trainees from Season 17 of our Creativity Works programme. As part of the four-week boot camp, the trainees visited our industry partners like Hearst, ITV and Snap and received training on interview techniques and CV writing. But even better you can hear about their experience from the horse’s mouth. Here’s a video the young people created about their time on the programme. If you want proof that Creativity Works works, this is it!

Not only do our programmes create opportunities for young and underrepresented talent to make their mark in the sector but they give our industry partners unique access to young talent looking for jobs in the media. Many of our partners go on to hire our programme alumni – like Hearst who recently recruited former trainee, Asiya.

So, if that video inspired you and you realised this is the kind of talent you’re looking for, let’s talk about how you can sponsor, partner with, or otherwise get involved with our youth programmes to support the next generation of media industry trailblazers. Email Louise, our Head of Partnerships, at [email protected] – we’d love to hear from you.
