43 Kickstart placements now live!

Posted 2 June 2021

Media Trust are proud to be part of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, working alongside 5 of our industry partners and DiVA Apprenticeships to offer 43 media and creative industry placements.

What is the Kickstart Scheme?

The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion Government fund to create 6 month work placements for young people aged 16-24 who are claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. All roles available on the scheme are for a minimum of 25 hours per week paid at National Minimum Wage, although some employers are choosing to increase this.

Who is eligible?

In order to apply for a role as part of the Kickstart Scheme, you must be:

  • Aged between 16 – 24
  • Claiming Universal Credit
  • Registered with your local Job Centre and be referred to a role by your Job Coach

No previous experience is required to apply for roles on the scheme. These roles have been created specifically to help you gain the experience, knowledge and insight you need to land your first full-time job within the industry. As well as on-the-job experience, you will also receive employability skills training such as CV and cover letter writing, where to search for jobs and interview tips, to help you with your onward career post-placement.

How to apply

To apply for a Kickstart role, you’ll need to be referred by your Job Coach. If any of the above roles interest you, simply tell your coach the job title, company and postcode (all listed above) and ask for them to refer you to the role. Since your Job Coach is responsible for putting you forward for the role, you’ll need to make sure that you are proactive in ensuring they refer you for any roles you would like to apply for.

Once you’ve been referred, you’ll then be able to submit your application for the role(s) you would like to be considered for.

Deadline: These roles are only available to apply for until Friday 18 June, so get your applications in quick!
