How to Engage Gen-Z in the Climate Conversation

Join the Weston Communicating Climate Programme’s upcoming masterclass to hear about effective audience engagement with Dentsu and Carat!
How can we capture the attention of Gen Z? What will mobilise young people to engage with our climate work? Get first hand insights from the Gen Z community at Dentsu, who aspire to unify the voices of tomorrow’s leaders.
This masterclass will show you how to understand and segment your audience, and gain inspiration on how to effectively engage Gen Z in the climate conversation. Natalie Lewis (Insights Director) will show attendees how to identify their key audiences and effectively engage with them. Tyler Christian (Gen Z Advisor) will share his experience as a Gen Z advisor and help us understand why it’s important to engage and mobilise young people.
This free session will also provide an opportunity at registration for attendees to submit your questions, or you can ask our speakers and panellists during the session.
This masterclass will cover:
- Understanding the purpose of segmenting your audience to achieve strategic objectives.
- Practical tips on how to tailor your message to effectively reach and engage different audiences.
- Insights into why it’s important to mobilise and engage young people in the climate conversation.
The format of the webinar will be as follows:
- 10:00 – 10:30 – ‘How to engage and segment your audiences’ by Carat.
- 10:30 – 11:00 – Panel discussion on why and how to engage Gen Z, with members of Dentsu’s VIZ community, a group of Gen Z experts, chaired by Media Trust
- 11:00 – 11:30 – Open Q&A session
Natalie Lewis is an insight-led strategist working for Carat UK, part of the Dentsu Network. Her current role sees her working to represent the consumer voice in Carat’s planning work, whether supported by primary or secondary research or using a host of industry-based media tools. She has experience in working with both qualitative and quantitative data, and loves to develop audience-based strategies to bring those audiences to life for her clients.
Tyler Christian is a Gen Z Advisor working for Dentsu UK, part of the Dentsu Network. His current role enables him to focus on the retention and engagement of the Gen Z community at Dentsu. A large part of his role consists of leading the VIZ Community, a Gen Z cohort of over 100 members, providing Dentsu’s Gen Zs with regular opportunities to progress their career and network with other people in the same demographic, through networking events, panel sessions, workshops and more.

This session is aimed at climate and environmental charities, as well as charities working on the intersection of environmental and other issues.
This masterclass is part of the Weston Communicating Climate Programme, which supports UK environmental and climate charities to enhance the reach, power and impact of their communications.
