Comms Coaching with Bloomberg

21 Jun

Tuesday 21 June 2022 10:00 - 12:00

Join us on Tuesday 21 June for free on the spot communications advice, ideas and feedback from leading industry volunteers from Bloomberg.

Applications for this event have now closed.

To mark Small Charity Week and Refugee Week, Media Trust is partnering with Bloomberg to offer small refugee charities the opportunity to attend an exclusive comms coaching event.

If your charity supports refugee and migrant communities and is looking to effectively communicate your story to reach and engage your target audiences or get your story into the media, this event is an excellent way to get real-time advice, ideas and feedback.

This event brings you together with top industry professionals who want to volunteer their time and expertise to help charities like yours build on their media skills, reach and knowledge.

How it will work?

Charities are invited to meet in themed breakout rooms on Zoom with five to six fellow charities, for small group coaching sessions led by Bloomberg volunteers.

Breakout groups will focus on the following communications areas:

  1. Data in storytelling including powerful tips and tools you can use to tell the digital world about your incredible work to increase engagement, reach and support
  2. Pitching stories – including key media pitching tactics that you can apply to effectively land your charity’s story in the news and reach your target audience

Participating charities will have an opportunity to bring their communications challenges and questions relating to these specific communication areas, receive valuable coaching and advice, and learn from your peers.

Media Trust’s speed mentoring session was extremely well organised and incredibly informative. The volunteers provided expert advice tailored to our issues and concerns.

Small Charity Week

Big Advice Day takes place during Small Charity Week on Tuesday 21 June to improve the knowledge, representation and sustainability of charities across the UK. The day aims to help and develop the skills of small charities in key areas through the provision of expert advice.

Refugee Week

Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Founded in 1998 and held every year around World Refugee Day, Refugee Week is also a growing global movement.

Attendance Eligibility:

This event is aimed at refugee and migrant charities with a turnover under £1 million.

Due to demand, we can only accommodate one person per charity and those who are responsible for communications and/or media relations.
