Posted 15 January 2025

We’re delighted to announce that Celia Taylor has joined Media Trust as Head of Media Trust Films!

Celia’s appointment marks a new chapter of growth for Media Trust Films. For over a decade, Media Trust Films has bridged the gap between charities and filmmakers, creating powerful films by leveraging the expertise of talented volunteer directors and producers, many with lived experience of the causes they’re supporting.

This year, Media Trust Films is producing a slate of films for charities supported by City Bridge Foundation, Crucible Foundation, The Mercers’ Company and Santander Foundation.

Celia says,

“Media Trust is a brilliant organisation that does incredible work, so I am more than delighted to be joining the amazing team. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver impactful and powerful content that will lead to positive change for communities all over the UK.”

Su-Mei Thompson, Media Trust’s CEO, said

“For over a decade, Media Trust Films has played a unique role in creating impactful films for charities, for free. Our work not only benefits charities but also allows our incredibly talented volunteer filmmakers to use their skills to give back in a very meaningful way.

With Celia at the helm, I am confident that Media Trust Films will continue to thrive, creating engaging digital content to help charities increase awareness of their work, mobilise more support for their cause and community, raise more funds and drive social change.”

Celia brings a wealth of experience and an award-winning track record in the screen industries. Most recently, Celia launched Distant Voices, a new TV production company with diversity baked into its DNA.  She was also a key figure in launching the Graddies, the UK’s first awards for graduate film students, now sponsored by Sony and endorsed by many leading organisations.

Before founding Distant Voices, Celia was Managing Director at Mentorn Media, where she revitalised the company and repositioned it as a creative powerhouse, successfully growing its broadcasting customer base in the UK and USA.

Celia has held prominent positions at the BBC, Virgin and Sky. As Head of Un-scripted at Sky, Celia delivered their highest rating show in 20 years with An Idiot Abroad alongside many other award-winning formats like 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy and Pineapple Dance Studios. She also commissioned six Natural History films with Sir David Attenborough in 3D, and a slate of Award-winning theatrical release documentaries.

Celia is looking forward to bringing some of the very best talent in screen industries to work with Media Trust Films to create films that will drive positive social change.
