Our free AI Essentials Bootcamps for charities and under-represented talent

Posted 23 April 2025

Free AI training to help charities and creative talent use AI confidently, ethically, and creatively.

Media Trust has launched AI Essentials, a brand-new free learning programme to help charities and early career creatives in the media industry best use the power of AI.

Whether you’re in a charity comms team or just starting out in the creative industries, AI Essentials gives you the skills and confidence to start using AI responsibly and creatively.

As of June 2025, we’ll be running two tailored bootcamps:

Both bootcamps combine live online workshops with flexible self-led learning, helping participants build foundational AI knowledge and apply it to their work straight away.

This project aims to empower charities and diverse creative talent with the skills they need to thrive while heading off an AI divide that will exacerbate existing inequalities.

What’s included?

AI Essentials is designed for people with little or no experience using AI. Participants will explore:

  • What AI is and how generative AI works
  • How to boost creativity and productivity using AI tools
  • How to write better prompts
  • How to use AI ethically and reduce bias
  • How to stay on top of AI trends

The course is based on five practical modules created by Google and adapted for Media Trust’s charity and creative communities.

Each bootcamp includes:

  • 3 live online workshops
  • Self-led learning (2 hours per week)
  • A Google certificate on completion

Tailored workshops for charities

We’re piloting this bootcamp exclusively with NCVO for NCVO member charities. It’s designed to help charity teams use AI to save time, increase their impact, and work more strategically. If you’re an NCVO member, head to our sign up page for more information.

It’s only by skilling up and constructively engaging with AI that charities and the communities they work with will have the tools and knowledge to use and shape this technology equitably.
