Comms Clinic: Cut through with clearer messaging

20 Oct

Tuesday 20 October 2026 14:00 - 15:00

Explore how your charity can simplify complex ideas and make sure your audience understands what matters most

What will the session cover?

Join expert volunteer Graham Bednash, Co-founder of Unstuck and former Director of Marketing at Google, for a practical session focused on your charity’s messaging challenges.

We’ll explore how to:

  • Identify the key message you want your audience to take away
  • Cut through jargon and make complex ideas easier to understand
  • Find the human story or insight at the heart of your message
  • Make your messaging clearer and more consistent across different channels

Whether you’re finding it difficult to pin down your key message, struggling to explain a complex issue, or noticing that your messaging changes depending on who’s writing it, this session will give you practical ideas to help.

How does it work?

We’ll kick things off with a 10-minute introduction from Graham, sharing practical tips on creating clearer, simpler and more effective messaging. This will be followed by a curated Q&A bringing together the most common questions and themes submitted by charities in advance, before we open the floor for any further live questions.

You’ll also hear from other charities and have the chance to share ideas and experiences with people facing similar challenges. This peer-to-peer learning will help everyone leave with practical advice they can apply in their own organisation.

Who can attend?

This session is open to people responsible for communications, marketing or media at UK-registered charities, CICs and social enterprises.
