Ethical case studies: Working with lived experience

17 Nov

Tuesday 17 November 2026 10:00 - 12:00

Learn how to gather, manage and share lived experience stories with confidence, care and meaningful consent

Understanding the principles of ethical storytelling is only the beginning. Applying them in practice can be much harder. How do you approach someone to share their story? What does meaningful, ongoing consent actually look like? And what happens when someone changes their mind after their story has been published?

This practical workshop explores how to work ethically with people who share their lived experience. You’ll learn how to build trust, manage consent throughout the storytelling process, and create clear, supportive processes that protect contributors while helping your charity tell authentic, impactful stories.

If you are a Postcode Lottery grantee and the session is fully booked or your code isn’t being accepted, please email osianb@mediatrust.org to be added to the waitlist.

Part of our Ethical communications for charities series

This workshop can be booked individually or as part of our Ethical communications for charities series. Book all three workshops together to receive a discounted rate and build the confidence to communicate your charity’s work ethically, inclusively and responsibly.
