GEO for charities: Getting found in AI search and answers

12 Nov

Thursday 12 November 2026 10:00 - 12:00

Learn how to help your charity show up in AI-generated answers, from Google AI Overviews to ChatGPT

Search is changing fast. More and more people are finding charities through AI-generated answers instead of traditional search results. Whether they’re asking Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity or another AI tool, supporters increasingly expect quick, trusted answers rather than a list of websites to click through.

If your charity is only optimising for traditional SEO, you could be missing opportunities to reach new audiences.

Following on from SEO for Charities, this intermediate workshop explores the next evolution of search: Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO). You’ll learn how AI-powered search tools discover, interpret and reference online content, and the practical steps you can take to improve your charity’s visibility in this rapidly changing online search landscape.

If you are a Postcode Lottery grantee and the session is fully booked or your code isn’t being accepted, please email osianb@mediatrust.org to be added to the waitlist.

What you’ll learn

In this two-hour session, we’ll explore the key psychological principles that drive supporter behaviour. You’ll discover:

  • How AI-powered search differs from traditional SEO, and why both matter for charities in 2026.
  • How tools like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity discover, interpret and reference online content.
  • How to structure your website and content so it’s more likely to appear in AI-generated answers.
  • How to monitor whether your charity is being cited by AI search tools.
  • Practical ways to adapt your existing SEO and content strategy for the future of search.

Who should attend?

Perfect for charity professionals responsible for communications, digital marketing or content who already have a good understanding of SEO fundamentals. This session builds on the concepts covered in our SEO for Charities course, so previous SEO knowledge is recommended.
