YouTube for charities: How to get started

03 Jun

Wednesday 3 June 2026 10:00 - 12:00

How to create YouTube content that keeps delivering results for your charity.

Unlike fast-moving social media feeds, YouTube is a search engine first. That means the content you create today can keep finding new audiences for months and years to come. For charities, that’s a powerful opportunity, whether you want to inspire donors, recruit volunteers, or simply help more people understand the work you do.

In this 2-hour beginner webinar, we’ll cut through the overwhelm and help you figure out what YouTube can realistically do for your charity. From setting up your channel and understanding the difference between Shorts and long-form video, to YouTube SEO and how to get your content found, we’ll cover the essentials in a practical, jargon-free way. We’ll also introduce live streaming as a tool for events, fundraising, and community building.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what content works on YouTube and how to start applying it, with realistic, practical steps your team can take straight away.

If you are a People’s Postcode Lottery grantee and the session is fully booked or your code isn’t being accepted, please email osianb@mediatrust.org to be added to the waitlist.

Every charity has a story worth telling. At Greenlight Pictures, we exist to find it, tell it with creativity and impact, and make sure the right people actually see it.

We do that by looking at everything together. We produce the content, manage media across Meta and YouTube, and ensure the website is ready to receive and convert that traffic. Paid, organic, the full funnel from awareness to action – all connected, all working as one.

We’ve worked with some brilliant causes along the way, both directly and through our partnership with Media Trust, helping them reach the right audiences through paid digital channels. We produced a film for Transform Drug Policy Foundation that won a Smiley Award, and a pilot project through Media Trust generated over 2 million impressions.

We’re running this session because many charities are still leaving reach, impact and outcomes on the table when it comes to digital spend. YouTube and Meta, used well, are incredibly powerful tools, and we want to share what we’ve learned so you can make the most of every pound.
