The Finchley Charities
Communications expert required to create internal and external comms strategy
We’re looking for a volunteer to design our internal and external communications strategy based on resident feedback, to guide colleagues in communicating with residents, trustees, partner organisations and the wider community. The strategy must be mindful of digital exclusion as we work with older people.
Existing resources include quarterly newsletter (paper copies), Office 365, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram accounts (sparse existing content), website, policies on GDPR, Social Media and Media Usage and photo permissions forms. We also have come up with some survey questions and have a colleague able to conduct this survey, so surveying can be done in-house if required.
Desirable skills include strategy design skills, consulting and survey analysis skills, and presentation skills to clearly convey the new strategy to colleagues.
The desired outcome is a comprehensive communications strategy to guide colleagues in communicating with residents, partners, trustees and the wider community, including an outline of how we should use digital communications.
Desired impacts: clearer and more effective communication with residents; facilitating resident access to services and social events and strengthening the community; raising awareness of TFC; strengthening our online presence to facilitate grant bids; allowing us to collaborate better with partners and volunteers; reaching more prospective residents.

Charity Details
For over 500 years The Finchley Charities have been providing quality sheltered housing in a supportive community environment, across three sites in East Finchley and Finchley Central.
We support people aged over-55 who have lived in the Borough of Barnet for at least five years of their life, are in need of sheltered housing, and are able to live independently.
Our housing offer is centred around our five core values: community, inclusion, support, security and quality. These were developed and devised in collaboration with our residents, and reflect our people-focused approach to supporting older members of the Barnet community.
We also landowners of the nearby Fuel Land allotments, where we have a Community Plot, and we make a small number of small grants to local good causes.
