The Country Trust
Film editor to help us highlight the integral importance of this work in schools
The government has launched a review of the national curriculum. The final report on this review will be launched in September 2025. This is a once-in-a-generation chance to influence the experience every child has the right to at school.
Currently, cooking and growing, connections with soil, engaging with nature and understanding where our food comes from are featured in the curriculum in a light-touch way at best. Our work proves that giving all children equitable access to these skills and opportunities has a huge impact on their physical and mental health, sense of belonging, engagement with school and understanding of the world and their place within it.
Since COVID, there’s been a real shift in understanding that the work we do isn't a 'nice to have' but foundational skills for the next generation. There’s also greater visibility of the extent of disadvantage in this country and the impact that unequal access to opportunity has on children.
We have some incredible footage that will blow you away, but we need to repackage it to help communicate why the curriculum review needs to reflect our asks. We need you to edit a max 3-minute film that communicates this message.
