Maytree Respite Centre
Social Media Strategy and Campaign Support
Maytree is the UK’s only residential charity supporting adults in acute suicidal crisis through a unique, non-medical psychosocial model. Since reopening in 2024, we are rebuilding awareness of our service and need support to develop a clear, sustainable social media strategy and impactful campaigns that explain our role within suicide prevention.
Our small team currently creates ad hoc content and undertakes outreach, but we lack specialist communications capacity. We are seeking a volunteer with experience in social media strategy, campaign planning, content creation, audience segmentation and digital storytelling. We particularly need help communicating stories of hope and impact safely, while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity around suicide.
Success would include a 12-month social media strategy, clear messaging for key audiences, a practical content calendar and campaigns that increase engagement with NHS services, mental health professionals, supporters, volunteers and potential funders. We also hope to strengthen referral pathways and build our team’s confidence to manage social media effectively.
Ultimately, this work will help more people know Maytree exists, enabling adults in acute suicidal distress to access compassionate support when they need it most.
