Community Guidelines

We believe in the power of media and communications to change lives. Professional volunteering is an important way to amplify the voices of charities and organisations who do incredible work to make the world a better place.

Our Volunteering Platform matches professional media and communications volunteers with charities to support their communications challenges. We believe all members of our community should work in a positive and inclusive environment, and this Community Agreement helps ensure everyone has a successful experience.

By engaging with Media Trust’s Volunteer Platform, you agree to follow these guidelines:

  • Respect everyone’s skills and expertise – charities, non-profit organisations and volunteers all have a range of useful skills, knowledge, and expertise. Respect each other’s time and be open to learning from one another to make the most of the experience.
  • Keep communication clear and professional – All communication should be transparent, respectful, and clear so that everyone involved stays up to date.
  • Set explicit boundaries and expectations – put boundaries and expectations in place at the beginning of the relationship, to keep on track and avoid any misunderstanding.
  • Be inclusive and respectful of our differences – this is a welcoming community; we encourage all members to treat each other with respect and dignity, and we do not tolerate discrimination.
  • Resolve issues together – if you face challenges, you should speak to each other and try to resolve the issue together first. Media Trust can support if you need extra help to resolve problems.
  • Report inappropriate behaviour – If you encounter any behaviour that violates this Community Agreement, please report it to us immediately.
