MiQ and Media Trust: Work Experience Week

Do you want to learn more about a career in the advertising industry?

Media Trust and leading digital advertiser, MiQ, have created a unique work experience opportunity for future media leaders aged 15-18!

Applications are now closed.

People often say that to get into advertising, it’s more about who you know than what you know. But research shows teams with diverse background create better, more relevant campaigns. Right now, the advertising industry still doesn’t reflect the diversity of the UK. Media Trust and MiQ are joining forces to help change that!

We’re offering 20 work experience places for 15–18-year-olds* based in London and surrounding areas from less advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. We’re looking for candidates who are looking to start a career in advertising and would benefit from a 4-day work experience placement at the MiQ headquarters in London. The week will be packed with engaging sessions to help you learn more about how the advertising industry works, grow your skills and meet new people.

*Those aged 15 require parental or guardian consent to apply, please contact rachaelw@mediatrust.org for information before applying

What is programmatic advertising?

MiQ are a programmatic media company.  Programmatic advertising uses audience data to sell digital advertising space to brands by reaching their target audiences.

Essentially, MiQ helps brands show the right ads to the right people online. Every time you scroll TikTok, watch YouTube or play a mobile game, there’s tech working behind the scenes deciding which ads you see – that’s programmatic advertising.

It’s one of the fastest-growing areas of advertising, and MiQ have worked with over 8,000 brands, from Burberry to Fanta.

What’s involved?

It takes a lot of different skills and experience to bring an advertising campaign to life. This 4-day work experience opportunity will give you an insight into different areas of the industry from creative to sales, as well as show the variety of career roles programmatic advertising has to offer.

As trainees, you’ll take part in knowledge sessions and complete set tasks throughout the programme. Then, in small groups, you’ll present what you’ve learned back to your MiQ facilitators. You’ll come away with hands on experience and an understanding that goes beyond just the theory.

The placement will run from 23rd March – 26th March 2026, 10am to 4pm every day.  It will be based at the MiQ headquarters in Holborn, central London and all travel expenses and lunch will be covered.
