Mentor a charity

Sharing your experience and offer practical advice

Every day, charities across the UK are doing incredible work to support people and communities. But with small teams and limited resources, many charities don’t have access to the communications expertise that could help their work reach further.

Media Trust’s mentoring programmes connect experienced media, communications and creative professionals with charity staff who want to strengthen their skills and confidence.

What does mentoring involve?

As a mentor, you’ll work one-to-one with a charity professional, sharing your experience and offering practical advice to help them overcome communications challenges and put new ideas into action.

Our mentoring is practical and skills-based. Each programme has a clear focus, timeframe and level of commitment, so you can choose an opportunity that fits your skills, interests and availability.

Why become a mentor?

Mentoring is a chance to use the skills you’ve built throughout your career to make a real difference to a charity.

You’ll help someone build the confidence and knowledge to communicate their work more effectively, while strengthening your own coaching, leadership and strategic thinking skills. It’s also an opportunity to gain a fresh perspective, learn more about the charity sector and use your expertise in a completely different context.
