Mentor a charity

We’re looking for mentors to support a diverse range of youth charities to strengthen their communications capacity and overcome their strategic communications challenges.

Mentoring is a uniquely rewarding experience, beneficial for both mentees and mentors. By offering your time, knowledge and creativity to one of our youth charities, you’ll help give their work and the young people they support a stronger voice. All the while, giving you insights into causes you care about, and an idea of how valuable your skills are to the UK charity sector.

The opportunity

As part of our Capacity Support Programme, delivered in partnership with John Lyon’s Charity, we’re offering 20 charities the opportunity to be matched with a skilled volunteer to support them with a communications challenge they currently face.

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who can commit to monthly mentoring sessions with their charity mentee for three to six months starting in April 2024. You will be able to offer strategic advice in one of the following areas:

  • Public relations
  • Social media
  • Digital campaigns
  • Event planning
  • Copywriting
  • Websites
  • AI technology
  • Digital infrastructure

I decided to volunteer as I firmly believe in the incredible work that these charities/organisations are doing. The best bit of volunteering was feeling like your knowledge could make an impact on their strategy. This experience has made me realise that I have a set of skills that may seem standard to me but are required in today’s new Covid world and I have a duty to help smaller organisations transition digitally.
