AI Essentials Bootcamp for Talent
Gain essential AI skills and be ready for wherever your career takes you

Are you looking to develop AI skills that’ll help you save time, boost productivity, and enhance your creativity? Media Trust’s free, three-week AI Essentials Bootcamp is designed to grow confidence using AI tools and to give you a competitive edge.
AI has the potential to level the playing field for early-career, under-represented talent in the creative industries, offering new opportunities for innovation and efficiency. In fact, a recent study found that AI adoption could boost productivity by up to 40%, helping professionals work smarter and more creatively.
That’s why Media Trust, with support from the Centre for Public Impact and Google AI Opportunity Fund: Europe, is offering a free AI training programme to help you understand, explore and integrate AI into your work with confidence.

The AI Essentials Bootcamp runs for three weeks, featuring one live workshop per week on Tuesdays, alongside additional independent learning through an eLearning platform.
During the workshops, you’ll reflect on what you’ve covered in the eLearning and explore practical ways to integrate AI into your work.
The core elements of the course have been designed by Google and centre around five modules:
Module 1 – Introduction to AI
Explore AI fundamentals, including machine learning and generative AI. Learn how to use AI tools effectively and integrate them into your workplace.
Module 2 – Maximise productivity with AI tools
Use generative AI to streamline tasks and boost productivity while understanding the human role in AI. Learn to identify when and how to integrate AI into your workflows.
Module 3 – Discover the art of prompt engineering
Master prompt writing to get the results you need, using techniques like few-shot prompting. Learn how AI generates output and why evaluation is key.
Module 4 – Use AI responsibly
Learn to use AI responsibly by reducing bias, managing risks, and applying an AI harms framework to workplace scenarios.
Module 5 – Stay ahead of the AI curve
Explore how other organisations use AI and gain strategies to stay updated on emerging AI trends.
At the end of the programme, you’ll receive a certificate from Google, which you can share with your colleagues and professional network.

- Bootcamp 1: 24 June – 8 July (Tuesday mornings)
- Bootcamp 2: 2 September – 16 September (Tuesday mornings)
When applying, you can select your preferred date, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your choice.
Where is it?
Online via Zoom, with some additional independent learning via an eLearning platform.
What’s the time commitment?
If you’re selected for this course, you must commit to attending all the training sessions. The training runs over three weeks with live online sessions on Tuesday mornings (9:00 –12:30). There’s also approximately 2 hours of independent learning each week, to be completed through an eLearning platform.
In total, you’ll need to set aside around 15 hours over the three weeks.
Who should apply?
If you have little or no experience using AI but are eager to learn and grow, this opportunity is for you. Priority will be given to early-career professionals from under-represented backgrounds in the media and creative industries.
For the purposes of this course, Media Trust defines these as:
- Early career: Professionals in the first 1 to 5 years of their career, whether in full-time roles, freelance work, or self-employment.
- Under-represented background: People from groups that are not represented in the media and creative industries in proportion to their presence in the general population. We particularly encourage you to apply if you identify as DDN (Deaf, Disabled and/or neurodivergent), or are from a racially minoritised or low socioeconomic background.
Since this programme is designed by Google, much of the content will focus on Google’s AI products, such as Gemini. While having a Google account is beneficial, it is not required.
There are 25 places available on each course and, if you’re selected, you must commit to attending all the training sessions.
How do you apply?
The application process is simple and includes a short form covering basic details (name, email, organisation, etc.), along with a few key questions about your motivations for joining the course:
- What do you hope to gain from this programme? (250 words)
- How do you plan to apply the knowledge and skills gained from this programme to your work? (250 words)
Your responses will play a crucial role in Media Trust’s selection process.
Applications are open now and close a week prior to each bootcamp starting. Successful applicants notified on a rolling basis.
If you have any questions about the programme or require any adjustments to support you with the application process, please contact us at charityservices@mediatrust.org.
