Celebrating a decade of Women's Voices by driving change for women and girls across the UK

Join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Women’s Voices! To mark this milestone year, the event will support 10 charities participating in our award-winning Media Trust Films programme, an initiative pairing charities with volunteer filmmakers to create powerful short films that amplify their voice, boost awareness, and strengthen their fundraising and campaign efforts.

In partnership with UN Women UK, we are producing films with these 10 charities tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG). These short films will serve as vital tools for change.

Media Trust’s one-day flagship volunteering event will bring the charities together with skilled media and creative professionals to maximise the impact of their films through expert strategic planning.

We’re seeking 80 passionate volunteers to build the success of this event and turn these inspiring films into action. Together, volunteers and charities will collaboratively develop strategies that amplify the stories and voices of women and girls who have faced trauma in the UK and drive their charitable missions forward in 2026 and beyond.

Despite the scale of the need, organisations supporting women and girls receive less than 2% of charitable grant funding in the UK. Media Trust’s unique model of matching volunteer professionals looking to use their skills to give back with charities looking for help with their storytelling and campaigning, we can bring important stories to life that otherwise wouldn’t be told.

At UN Women UK, our mission is to ensure that ALL women and girls have access to safety, choice, and a voice. Voice means more than being heard – it means being seen, believed, and valued. That’s why we’re so proud to partner with Media Trust to bring to life the stories of organisations across the UK working towards gender equality. By amplifying these voices, we move closer to a world where equality is not just an ideal, but a lived experience for all.

What to expect

Before the event:

  • Apply via this form, sharing your skills and experience.
  • If successful, Media Trust will group you into a team of volunteers with varying skillsets and expertise to work with one of the 10 charities.
  • Media Trust will share each team’s charity brief, film and any additional assets/information ahead of the event.
  • Media Trust will host an online briefing session for all volunteersproviding an overview of the event, how to prepare and introduce the volunteer teams together.

On the day:

  • Volunteers will collaborate with their charity to generate actionable ideas and develop a tailored campaign plan that enhances the reach and impact of the charity’s short film.
  • Volunteers and charities will hear from our keynote speaker Claire Throssell MBE. Claire is a tireless champion for women’s and children’s safety whose advocacy, rooted in profound personal loss, has driven landmark reform to prioritise children’s voices and protection in the family courts. Her work has inspired a movement that will safeguard future generations, honouring the legacy of her sons, Jack and Paul.

Such a rich, important and valuable event. It had a real energy to leverage our media expertise for change and learn from frontline staff doing incredible work. It was also fantastically planned!

Success stories

This is my second year of volunteering at this brilliant event and it is high energy and enriching. It's really inspirational to focus on the great work that the charities are doing and fulfilling to be able to help them just a little.
