Practical Training

The 10-week programme will offer training in media and creative skills, responding to current industry needs, as well as employability skills. Due to Covid-19, Season 12 will be taking place virtually.

The media and creative masterclasses cover a wide range of topics including photography, journalism, TV production, marketing, PR/comms, digital and social media, facilitated by volunteer professionals from Media Trust’s industry partners like the BBC, Channel 4, Facebook/Instagram, Google, Hearst, ITV, Snap and Twitter.

You will learn the nuts and bolts of each area and get the chance to apply your newly acquired skills through creating your own content, pitching your creative ideas to, and getting on the spot feedback from, our industry partners. The content you create will also be uploaded to a Creativity Works Tumblr page which is shared far and wide on social media. Find out how our Season 10 cohort got on.

Throughout the programme, you will also benefit from employability skills training, including CV development, writing cover letters, job search and interview techniques. These sessions are run in partnership with employment-focussed organisations like Searchlight Recruitment, Smart Works and Suited & Booted.

The course has helped me so much with my confidence and team working skills. I’m so happy this course exists! It’s opportunities like this that really make a difference, especially as a young person trying to break into the creative industry.
