Charity Challenge with PHD

A chance for charities to work with a team of media volunteers to develop a campaign plan.

Are you a charity that focuses on inclusion? Do you have a campaign on the horizon?

Media Trust has partnered with media agency PHD to offer 10 charities the opportunity to work with a team of media volunteers to develop a campaign plan. This is your chance to harness the creativity of your own dedicated team of industry experts.

We are looking for charities whose work aims to improve and increase greater understanding and implementation of inclusion within society, workplaces, industry and beyond. If your organisation is working to address imbalances in power, provide equal access, opportunities, and treatment for all individuals, and you are preparing for an upcoming campaign, then this opportunity is for you!

How does it work?

If successful, you will develop a detailed brief outlining your specific campaign idea for your organisation. You will then be matched with your own dedicated team of PHD volunteers with skills spanning marketing strategy, media planning, business intelligence, finance, legal, data, and more. They will use their expertise to generate ideas and develop an implementation strategy for your upcoming campaign.

When and where is it?

Over two months, you will join three online sessions:

  • Charity Briefing (mid-June) – understand how to maximise the opportunity and refine your campaign brief.
  • Meet & Greet (mid-July) – meet your volunteer team, delve deeper into your campaign and start the ideas flowing!
  • Action Plan Presentation (mid-August) – your team presents their final campaign ideas to you along with an action plan for you to take away and implement.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply for the event, your organisation must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Be an organisation with a charitable purpose focusing on inclusion.
  • Be a small to medium-sized organisation with a turnover of £2 million or less.
  • Have a clear, live campaign idea which you are already working on or have planned to start working on this year.
  • Have two members of the organisation, including one specifically working on your campaign, available to join all online sessions as outlined above.

Priority will be given to organisations that meet one or more of the desirable criteria:

  • Organisations supporting communities from one or more of the nine protected characteristics as detailed in the Equality Act 2010.
  • Organisations that can demonstrate commitment and understanding of intersectionality within their work.
  • Organisations supporting people in the UK most affected by inequality and structural unfairness built within society and institutions.
  • Organisations that can demonstrate they are user-led.
